Penn View middle school students are excited to present a special adaptation of this popular Broadway musical which explores the themes of transformation and mercy.
The classic story tells of Belle (Carlie Cocco), a young woman who feels trapped in a provincial town – especially as she is being pursued by the town hunk, Gaston (Owen Hershberger), and the Beast (Miguel Santiago), who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household (Lumiere: Calvin Derstein, Cogsworth: Casey Harper, Mrs. Potts: Hannah Landis, Babette: Makenna Rodriguez, Madame de la Grande Bouche: Sara Kennel, and Chip: Libbie Derstine) will be doomed for all eternity.
Beauty and the Beast Jr. features songs such as “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast” (Tale as old as time…).
